Objective
This course aims to provide a basic overview of the landfill leachate characteristics, available treatment technologies, design and permitting approach and case projects for leachate treatment systems. This will include coverage of landfill leachate general characteristics and variations by time and the process overview and environmental issues with each of unit process/technologies available for leachate treatment. The course will also highlight the relevant regulations, sampling parameters and procedures for leachate, data analysis and validation, and the permitting approach for the design of a leachate treatment system. This course will also describe and detail four case projects of landfill leachate treatment design.
